Director Luca Guadagnino’s new Film Bones and All is expected to premiere in theaters this November 23. The film is based on Camille DeAngelis’ novel of the same name and was adapted for the screen by David Kajganich, who collaborated with the director in 2018’s Suspiria. The fact that the feature received a 10-minute standing ovation at its Venice Film Festival’s premiere is enough to be curious about it and a sneak peek is available now. MGM studios released the first trailer this Thursday.
Bones and All is a coming-of-age romance thriller that follows 18-year-old Maren (Taylor Russell), an outcast with cannibal instincts who falls in love with Lee (Timotée Chalamet), a slightly older cannibal. Chalamet reunites with Guadagnino after starring in Call me by your name. His performance has been praised as his best one so far and Russell received the Best New Talent award at Venice.
On the trailer shots of the film are paired with Leonard Cohen’s song “You Want It Darker”, which sets the tone for it. Glimpses of Maren and Lee’s relationship is shown as well as the landscapes they navigate on their journey. The trailer also contains explicit images about their murders and victims they encounter. Certainly the mixture of genres is an interesting combination that seems to fit perfectly to Guadagnino’s style.
Bones and All will be on theaters this Thanksgiving.
