

Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights is expected to headline this weekend’s box office with a $50 million-plus premiere. The Warner Bros. distributed film is director Emerald Fennell’s third film following Promising Young Woman and Saltburn. Starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi as Catherine and Heathcliff, the film claims to be a a new interpretation of the classic thorny romance written by Emily Brontë.
While Wuthering Heights is expected to be the big hit of this weekend, several other films are also coming out over the holiday. The Stephen Curry-produced film GOAT is projected to make $20-25 million in its opening weekend, putting it just behind Wuthering Heights. The animated kids film follows a small goat who wishes to become the greatest basketball player of all time. It was helmed by Sony Pictures Animation and stars Caleb McLaughlin, Aaron Pierre, Jennifer Hudson, Gabrielle Union, Jelly Roll and Stephen Curry. Crime 101 also rolls out this weekend, looking at a $15-17 million return over the weekend. The Amazon MGM crime thriller stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Halle Berry and Barry Keoghan. The film follows a jewel thief trying to pull off his most daring heist yet with police detectives right on his tail.
On top of these three heavy-hitters, this weekend is also populated by a few smaller films going wide. Neon’s comedy Nirvana the Band the Show the Movie expands this weekend, along with Gore Verbinski’s sci-fi comedy Good Luck Have Fun Don’t Die and the Joe Keery-led thriller Cold Storage.
