Wreck-It Ralph is smashing into theaters once again when Disney releases the sequel to the 2012 film on Nov. 21. The good-natured “bad guy” (John C. Reilly) returns later this year again joined by his partner-in-crime Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman) to embark across a new frontier–the World Wide Web.
The newly-released trailer shows the dynamic duo leaving their arcade’s ‘Game Central Station’ to enter the endless cyberspace when their arcade owner, Mr Litwak, plugs a router into his iMac G3. From there they encounter everything the internet has to offer from online shopping (they get enthralled by a poster bidding on eBay) to the abundance of clickbait (Ralph gets sucked in to ‘These 10 Child Stars Went to Prison’)–we’ve all been there.
No sign yet of Jack McBrayer’s Fix-It Felix or Jane Lynch’s Sergeant Calhoun from the original film, but they are sure to make appearances in some fashion. Taraji P. Henson (Hidden Figures), who is set to star as a website entrepreneur named Yesss, also isn’t yet seen in the new footage. More plot-driven footage is sure to come, this is just intended to garner excitement, and it’s working–for me at least.
Phil Johnston and Rich Moore return to direct with a script by Johnston and Pamela Ribon. The original film grossed $471.2 million worldwide, so this is sure to draw a crowd.
