‘Workaholics’ Star Anders Holm Figures Out ‘How to Be Single’

Anders Holm, known by face and name from the Comedy Central hit show Workaholics, has signed on to the romcom How to Be Single, co-starring with Lily Collins (Mirror, Mirror), Damon Wayans Jr. (Let’s Be Cops, Big Hero 6), Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect), and Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey). Holm is stepping in for Dan Stevens (PBS’s Downton Abbey), who had to bow out due to scheduling conflicts with the live-action fairytale remake Beauty and the Beastaccording to The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on the novel by Liz Tucillo, How to Be Single chronicles the exploits of a female journalist as she researches international bachelorette behavior… and gets tangled in her own web of romance in the process. Tucillo is delving into very familiar territory with this upcoming project, harboring a multitude of romcom experience writing for Sex and the City and co-writing He’s Just Not That Into You.

Drew Barrymore, one of the ensemble players in the film version of He’s Just Not That Into You, is producing, with romantic savants Abbey Kohn and Marc Silverstein collaborating together again (the pair previously co-wrote The Vow, He’s Just Not That Into You, and Valentine’s Day). Director Christian Ditter will also be reuniting with Collins, who starred in his 2014 romance flick Love, Rosie.

How to Be Single is another step toward an established movie career for Holm, who until recently was mostly recognizable for his television alter ego Anders “Ders” Holmvik in Workaholics. Holm’s latest credits include roles in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice, Chris Rock’s Top Fiveand Seth Rogen’s The Interview.

Holm is reportedly portraying the role of a suave ladies’ man in the romcom’s ensemble cast.
