Willem Dafoe On “Nosferatu”, His Third Film With Director Robert Eggers

Robert Eggers is not afraid to think outside the box with films. His mixture of folk storytelling and classic horror has created critically acclaimed films like The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman. However, his most anticipated film is his adaptation of the classic vampire film “Nosferatu.”

The movie already has a stacked cast with Bill Skasgård, who has already made a name for his roles in horror films and will play Nosferatu. Lily-Rose Deep is the most recent addition, playing the film’s damsel-in-distress. Nicholas Hoult and Emma Corrin are also tied to the project, but there is no information yet on their roles. Last week, Aaron Taylor-Johnson announced he was joining the cast.

No doubt, the biggest name on the cast is seasoned actor Willem Dafoe, who has collaborated with Eggers twice before. In an interview with Collider, Dafoe mentioned he grew out his sideburns and mustache to begin filming.

In working on his third film with Eggers, he said, “I had a wonderful time. I saw The Witch, and I liked it so much. I arranged a meeting with him. We liked each other. Then I did The Lighthouse, which was a fantastic experience, and I think it’s a very good movie. Then I did a little part in The Northman, which I really enjoyed, and now I get to do this. So I’m just happy to be back with him. It’s Nosferatu, his version of Nosferatu. I’m just excited to be with him again. He’s a great filmmaker, and I enjoy his company.”

Robert Eggers’ “Nosferatu” hasn’t set a release date but is beginning production in Prague early this year.
