Carpenter was asked to weigh in on whether or not Halloween Ends would be the final film in the franchise. The director mentioned that sequels in Hollywood are defined by their profitability. Carpenter said if the “dollar sign” attached to a film is too small, then there won’t be more sequels. Carpenter is unsure if Halloween Ends will be the final installment in the franchise, and seems to think that this decision will be made depending on how profitable the franchise is moving forward.
Producer Jason Blum mentioned that his contract does not extend beyond Halloween Ends, but that he is open to extending the franchise. Halloween was first released on October 25th, 1978. The film is best known for its iconic villain Michael Myers, who wears a white mask. This white mask has become a staple of horror movie iconography.
Halloween Ends is scheduled for release on October 14th, 2022. The film will feature Jamie Lee Curtis returning to the role of Laurie Strode, a character from the original film who survived Michael Myers. Nick Castle will also be returning to the role of Michael Myers. The film is directed by David Gordon Green.
