Will Forte Comments That Warner Bros. Discovery’s Shelving Of ‘Coyote Vs. Acme’ Still “Makes My Blood Boil”

Will Forte isn’t holding back when it comes to his feelings about Warner Bros. Discovery shelving his film Coyote vs. Acme, Deadline reports.

Initially scheduled to open on July 21, 2023, the Looney Tunes live-action/animated hybrid film was pulled from the schedule in 2022, and replaced with Barbie, with the studio eventually announcing on November 9, 2023, that despite being completed, the comedy would be permanently shelved for $30 million tax write-off against its $70 million budget. Warner Bros. Discovery later reversed this decision, setting up screenings and an auction for the rights from other studios and streamers, but as of this writing, no deal has been made.

As a result, it seems that Coyote vs. Acme will never see any form of release, with “funeral” screening being held earlier this year.

Now, per MovieWeb, Will Forte, who played the role of the titular Wile E. Coyote’s lawyer, is venting his frustrations about the whole situation saying, “My thoughts were that it’s f—ing bull—…It is such a delightful movie. It deserves so much better than what it got. I don’t know, I can’t tell you possibly why the decision was made to not release it, but it makes my blood boil…And thank you for asking me about it, because I like talking about the movie, because I want them to — I don’t want people to forget what they did to us. That being said, I appreciate them letting us make it. But like, you know, don’t let us make this thing that we fall in love with and then not show it. I mean, I would understand if the thing sucked, but it’s really good…”

Along with Forte, the film would have starred John Cena, Lana Condor, and Eric Bauza, was written by James Gunn, Samy Burch, and Jeremy Slater, and directed by Dave Green.
