‘Wicked’ Film Announces Awards Plan: Cynthia Erivo in Lead, Ariana Grande in Supporting

The anticipated movie Wicked will be hitting theaters this November! Broadway fans will finally be able to see how it compares to the live show!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, two incredibly talented actresses and singers, won’t be competing in the same category for the awards season, unlike the original Broadway stars Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. Erivo, who is playing the determined Elphaba (the Wicked Witch), will be considered for lead actress, while Grande, taking on the role of the charming Glinda (the Good Witch), will be in the supporting actress category.

This strategy boosts their chances for the upcoming awards season and increases the likelihood of both stars getting the recognition they deserve. Fans are eager to see how this plays out, both on the screen and with the awards!

It’s been a long wait for this movie!  How will these two talented women bring their characters to life? It is incredible to see such strong women in leading roles, and it’s going to be amazing to watch Erivo and Grande’s take on Elphaba and Glinda.

The Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey will be in the film, playing the confident and slightly conceited Fiyero. Additionally, the lovely Michelle Yeoh will also be included as Madame Morrible. The casting directors did a great job assembling this lineup. The talent in this film is incredibly promising!
