Whoopi Goldberg Teams Up With Extinction Rebellion on Animated Climate Short

Whoopi Goldberg has teamed up with the environmental movement Extinction Rebellion to create short film titled The Gigantic Change. Goldberg is not the first celebrity to create with the international movement, as Extinction Rebellion previously worked with Academy Award winner Joaquin Phoenix

The Gigantic Change is an animated short narrated by Goldberg. The film starts in 2050 and looks back on our present-day to show how humans all across the globe came together, despite their political differences, in order to help the environment. In this animated world, humans have successfully avoided a climate crisis thanks to teamwork from every country across the globe, all of whom decided to do their part.

According to recent environmental data, by 2050, we could face the extinction of nearly half the species on Earth, and up to 1 billion people could be displaced from their homes. This short hopes to educate viewers on the dangers of ignoring these huge risks, with the goal of inspiring people to take action- both by themselves and with others- and convince governmental bodies to join them.

Extinction Rebellion was established in the UK in 2018 as a response to the failure of government action regarding climate change. The film will be available to watch on all social media platforms on June 5.
