What Does ‘Hardcore Henry’ Mean for Moviegoers?

Next month, moviegoers will be introduced to a brand new cinematic experience in the form of a first-person action film called Hardcore Henry. The entire film is seen through the eyes of Henry, who is resurrected from death with no memory. He must discover his identity and save his wife from a warlord with a plan to bio-engineer soldiers.

So, what does that mean for people who want to watch the film in theaters? Writer-director Ilya Naishuller promises crazy action mayhem from start to finish. Hardcore Henry premiered at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival and became one of the highest-profile movies at the festival. The film has since generated considerable following of hardcore moviegoers who are excited to experience a roller-coaster thrill ride that puts the viewer in the driver seat. Oren Aviv, president and chief content officer of STX Entertainment recently spoke in a Variety interview about what audiences can expect:

If you love film, Hardcore Henry is a breakthrough discovery. It is stylistically fresh and fun and it has unbelievable action sequences, a great story and effects that truly stand out from anything you have seen on screen before.

Hardcore Henry hits theaters on April 8th and is the first major motion picture of its kind, but certainly won’t be the last with the long running popularity of first–person video games and newly emerging VR-Technology on the horizon.
