Wesley Snipes Signs Onto ‘Coming to America 2’

 

Wesley Snipes becomes the latest addition to the cast of Coming to America 2 according to Deadline.

As previous reported, Craig Brewer is slated to direct the sequel to the 1988 film which will be written by Kenya Harris with Eddie Murphy set to reprise his role as Akeem, an African prince who grows cumbersome of potential marriage arrangements made by the kingdom of Zamunda and opts to travel to Queens to as an undercover native and find a woman of his liking.

The sequel involves Akeem as the King of Zamunda who soon discovers he has a long lost son he never knew about in America who resides in Queens named Lavelle. To honor his father’s last dying wish, Akeem and Semmi return to America to meet the heir of Zamunda and groom him as the next prince.

Snipes will portray General Izzi, the ruler of a nearby nation of Zamunda. Jermaine Fowler is also set to star in the film.

Snipes has recently worked with Murphy and Brewer on the upcoming Rudy Ray Moore biopic entitled Dolemite Is My Name which is slated for a September release at the Toronto Film Festival. The release date of Coming to America 2 is undetermined.
