Much like its main subject, Miles Ahead aims to go beyond the standard formula of a biopic. Instead, the film aims to show jazz musician Miles Davis’ life in a different way. Directed and starring Oscar nominated actor Don Cheadle (Hotel Rwanda), Miles Ahead recently closed the New York Film Festival.
Ewan McGregor plays a journalist who tricks Davis into doing a story on him in the 1970s. Throughout the film, Davis will give flashbacks of his life. This is all amidst the trumpeter trying to get his proper royalty checks from the record company.
The film, featuring Cheadle in his feature film directorial debut, also stars Keith Stanfield (Short Term 12), Michael Stuhlbarg (Trumbo), and Emayatzy Corinealdi (Middle of Nowhere).
