Director Amy Berg (Deliver Us From Evil) and the other producers behind the controversial documentary An Open Secret have released a trailer for the film that focuses on accusations of child molestation in Hollywood.
The movie posits that many industry producers and executives have used their power to take advantage of child actors over the years. It features testimony from former child stars Corey Feldman (Stand by Me) and Todd Bridges (TV’s Different Strokes). A man named Todd Egan is featured prominently in the movie, as he was the one who made accusations that director Bryan Singer (X-Men: Days of Future Past) molested him in the late 1990s. Those charges were dropped, however, last August. Eagen had filed similar charges against former Disney executive David Neuman and former TV executive Garth Ancier. Egan was convicted of financial fraud last month.
This is familiar material for Berg, who directed the 2006 documentary Deliver Us From Evil that centered on Father Oliver O’Grady, who was frequently moved to different parishes in the 1970s by the Catholic church in order to cover up molestation accusations. Berg is currently working on a documentary surrounding the killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO.
Due to the accusations made by the film, no major studio is distributing the movie and it’s likely to get a very limited release. It premiered at the NY Doc Festival last November and is set to release June 5. You can watch the trailer below.
