On Monday, 20th Century Studios dropped the official trailer for The Bob’s Burgers Movie, set to hit theaters on May 27. The film will feature the entire cast of voices, including H. Jon Benjamin, Kristen Schaal, Dan Mintz, and John Roberts.
Here is a synopsis of the highly anticipated film: “The Belchers try to save the restaurant from closing as a sinkhole forms in front of it, while the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their family’s restaurant.”
Bob’s Burgers premiered in 2011 on Fox and follows family man Bob Belcher as he runs his dream restaurant with his wife and three children. Over the 13 seasons, Bob, his wife Linda, and their children, Tina, Gene, and Louise, get into many hijinks with the citizens of their town and learn the value of family.
The show has garnered 84 awards nominations and 17 wins, including two Primetime Emmy Awards in 2014 and 2017 for Outstanding Animated Program.
The movie was announced back in 2017 with a planned 2020 release date but suffered multiple delays due to the pandemic. The film was then slated for April 2021, but Disney removed it from its release schedule entirely, and remained un-dated for some time. After years of uncertainty, The Bob’s Burgers Movie will come to North American theaters on May 27.
The show’s creator and film’s director Loren Bouchard promises fans that it will be worth the wait saying in an interview with Collider, “We also know it has to fill every inch of the screen with the colors and the sounds and the ever so slightly greasy texture of the world of Bob’s – but most of all it has to take our characters on an epic adventure. In other words, it has to be the best movie ever made. But no pressure, right?!”
