Taika Waititi stars as Adolf Hitler in the upcoming dark comedy satire Jojo Rabbit, film he also directed, wrote, and co-produced. Based on the book Caging Skies by Christine Leunens. Waititi plays Hitler as the imaginary friend of a young German boy named Jojo “Rabbit” Betzler, played by Roman Griffin Davis. As Jojo tries to fit in with his peers in the increasingly fascist country, he discovers his mother, played by Scarlett Johansson, has been hiding a Jewish girl in their house. In the trailer, Hitler is seen comforting Rabbit when his peers make fun of him, saying that he was once called names as well.
