The age-old question of, “Can men and women just be friends?'” has been explored in countless films and Leslye Headland’s (Bachelorette) Sleeping with Other People is the latest to try and provide an answer.
The movie stars Jason Sudeikis (We’re the Millers) and Alison Brie (The Five-Year Engagement) as a pair of serial cheaters who meet at a sex addicts-anonymous meeting and decide to form a platonic relationship. As they grow close, their friends become more befuddled as to their relationship status. The movie was picked up by IFC Films for U.S. distribution after it received solid reviews at the Sundance Film Festival.
The trailer makes the movie look very reminiscent of the classic romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally, especially since the trailer contains a split-screen texting scene similar to that film’s split-screen phone call scenes. Similar to Sally and the rest of its ilk, this looks like it will include the frank discussions and jokes about sex that made Headland’s last film, Bachelorette, so memorable.
Adam Scott (Friends With Kids), Natasha Lyonne (Netflix’s Orange is the New Black), Amanda Peet (HBO’s Togetherness), and Jason Mantzoukas (TV’s The League) also star in Sleeping With Kids, which will be released September 11. In the meantime, watch the trailer below.
