25 years ago it wouldn’t have been a surprise to see Arnold Schwarzenegger (The Terminator) kill zombies. In the trailer for his latest film, Maggie, he’s protecting one. Lionsgate has released a trailer for the star’s new film, in which he protects his daughter, played by Little Miss Sunshine star Abigail Breslin, who is infected with a virus that slowly transforms her into a cannibalistic zombie.
The movie is the feature directorial debut for Henry Hobson, a graphic designer who has worked on everything from ad campaigns, to title sequences of movies, to the telecast of the Academy Awards.
As for the cast, a more dramatic role like this might be just what Schwrazenegger needs to regain his popularity with audiences. He hasn’t had a hit in the U.S. outside of the Expendables franchise, despite staring in three action films. He’s likely hoping to remedy that with the upcoming release of Terminator Genisys.
Breslin has kept a fairly low profile since she was a part of the ensemble cast of August: Osage County in 2013. Next, she’s expected to reprise her role in the sequel to her more lighthearted zombie film, Zombieland.
Maggie was originally set to premiere at last year’s Toronto Film Festival before it was acquired by Lionsgate. It’s now set to debut at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. Watch the trailer below:
