The synopsis of The Batman has been revealed on the official Warner Brothers website. It promises to be grungier and more sinister than any previous Batman movie.
Warner Brothers has been keeping any information concerning The Batman top-secret ever since the first trailer was released during 2021 DC FanDome. But it seems that they are finally leaking some small insight on what the tone of the movie is going to look like and covering Batman’s complicated character arc. The news is definitely not giving out too much info either, since the plot and storyline are still being kept under a black cape to the public.
The brief synopsis states the following about the film, “The Batman is an edgy, action-packed thriller that depicts Batman in his early years, struggling to balance rage with righteousness as he investigates a disturbing mystery that has terrorized Gotham.” It then continues to explain a little more about Bruce Wayne’s character arc: “Robert Pattinson delivers a raw, intense portrayal of Batman as he is disillusioned, desperate vigilante awakened by the realization that the anger consuming him makes him no better than the ruthless serial killer that he’s hunting.”
The official synopsis confirms what had already been visually suggested by the trailer. Robert Pattinson will give a much more unhinged version of Batman that will starkly contrast with the previous more self-controlled and disciplined interpretations of the Dark Knight. Under director Matt Reeves’ vision, the city of Gotham itself and the supporting cast get a more primitive and grungy look.
The Batman with Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, and Jeffrey Wright will release in theaters on March 4, 2022.
