Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to the Lisa Joy-directed action thriller, Reminiscence. The thriller will be Joy’s first directorial feature. Beloved actors, Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Ferguson will star in Joy’s landmark debut.
Joy is best known as the executive producer on HBO’s acclaimed show, Westworld. The talented producer will need to transfer her expertise for her upcoming cinematic debut. In addition to directing Reminiscence, Joy authored the screenplay and will co-produce with Jonathan Nolan, Michael De Luca and Aaron Ryder.
Reminiscence follows a rugged veteran, Nicolas Bannister (Jackman), living in a future Miami flooded by rising sea levels. Bannister lives a dangerous life where he gives clients a chance to relive a memory of their choosing. Everything changes after he meets a mysterious woman named Mae (Ferguson). Bannister quickly becomes infatuated with Mae and begins a passionate romance with her. However, when a client’s memory implicate Mae to a string of murders, Bannister if forced to embark on a journey through the past to discover the truth about the woman he loves.
The principle photography is scheduled to begin in New Orleans and Miami this October. Expect to see Joy and her team ramp-up production after finishing the third season of Westworld. This news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
