Emmy-nominee Walton Goggins has recently been cast as a lead in Rough House Pictures‘ upcoming dark action comedy Fatman, starring Mel Gibson as Santa Claus. Production is currently underway in Canada, with the original screenplay written and directed by The Nelms Brothers (Small Town Crime). Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, and Jody Hill will be producing the film, which should be a reassuring lineup since all of them have worked together on projects before such as HBO’s Vice Principal, which stars Goggins, and 2008’s Pineapple Express.
Goggins will play Skinnyman, a sharp-shooting, eccentric hitman who works at a toy store. The character is hired to kill a rowdy, unorthodox Santa Claus (Gibson) by a neglected and precocious 12 year-old after receiving a lump of coal in his stocking.
In 2018, Goggins won a Critic’s Choice Award for his role on Vice Principal, and a Primetime Emmy award for his drama series Justified. In addition, he starred and produced the 2001 short film The Accountant, which won an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. He also appears on Gemstone and CBS’ comedy The Unicorn. Other notable film credits of his include Three Christs, Them That Follow, Ant-Man And The Wasp, and The Hateful Eight. Goggins’ incredible versatility and dedication to his roles will surely deliver a solid performance for the dark comedy film.
