After the third Knives Out, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, was announced, Jeremy Renner has been confirmed to join the cast. This marks his first acting role following his snow plow accident in 2023.
On January 1st of 2023, Renner was run over by the snowplow while he was at his home, resulting in major injuries for Renner.
The Knives Out series comes from writer/director Rian Johnson. Both the first Knives Out and its sequel, Glass Onion, follow a detective, played by Daniel Craig, as he tries to solve a murder mystery where everyone is a likely suspect.
The Hollywood Reporter reveals the cast members announced for Wake Up Dead Man include Andrew Scott, Glenn Close, Kerry Washington, Cailee Spaeny, and Josh O’Connor. Hollywood Reporter also noted that Deadline was the first to report that Renner joined the cast.
Renner’s prolific acting career dates back to 1995’s National Lampoon’s Senior Trip. Since then, he’s appeared in countless film roles, such as Dahmer, 28 Weeks Later, The Hurt Locker, and The Bourne Supremacy.
Renner’s most iconic role is Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He first appeared as the character in 2011’s Thor and has since appeared in The Avengers, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Endgame, and also appeared alongside Hailee Steinfeld in the Disney+ series, Hawkeye.
Following Renner’s casting, pre-production will commence soon, as confirmed by director Rian Johnson. Johnson has also directed Brick, Looper, and Star Wars: Episode VIII- The Last Jedi.
