Ving Rhames Joins the Cast of ‘Bastards’

Ving Rhames has signed on to join the cast of the comedy Bastards. The directorial debut from cinematographer Lawrence Sher will also include Ed Helms, Owen Wilson, Terry Bradshaw and JK Simmons.

Coming off the summer box office hit, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Rhames will play Rod Hamilton, a former teammate of Terry Bradshaw, who plays himself in the film.

The movie’s story focuses on two brothers and their discovery that the story of the death of their father was fabricated by their mother. Upon learning the lie, they embark on a journey to find their father.

Lawrence Sher comes from a comedy background, serving a director of photography for comedies such as The Hangover films, Due Date, I Love You, Man and Garden State. The script is written by Justin Malen (Bad Teacher 2). Ivan Reitman, Ali Bell, Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove will serve as producers while Tom Pollock, Chris Fenton and Chris Cowles will executive produce.

Principal photography is set to begin next month in Atlanta and Miami.

The film will be released some time next year.
