Christopher Landon is continuing his partnership with Blumhouse Productions as their new untitled film brings in Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton to headline the upcoming feature. Deadline confirms the story-line, “After swapping bodies with a deranged serial killer, a young girl in high school discovers she has less than 24 hours before the change becomes permanent.” After the success of Happy Death Day and the Paranormal Activity series, Landon has proven his ability to craft stories from unique concepts and turn them into box office surprises.
For Vaughn, this movie is an interesting choice since he’s known for his comedic roles. Possibly this is a sign of change in trajectory for his acting career, with other projects he’s signed on to such as Seberg and indie film Arkansas also being more dramatic roles. As for Newton, coming off the highly successful summer flick Detective Pikachu, she’s looking to keep the her resume rolling by signing on for this new venture.
Newton should fit right in on set, as she previously starred in Paranormal Activity 4, another past project of Landon’s. Still early in production with more casting news still to be announced, Blumhouse has plans for another thriller that looks to turn heads once again.
