Vin Diesel is Groot in ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

It’s finally official. It’s long been assured, but is finally confirmed, that Vin Diesel has joined the Marvel Universe and will play the tree-like being Groot in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Vin Diesel joins a seemingly infinite cast of first class thespians in the film. Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty) plays Peter Quill aka Star Lord, anti-hero and leader of a squad of aliens battling cosmic threats including: Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Star Trek: Into Darkness) as Gamora, WWE superstar Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Djimon Hounsou (Baggage Claim, Blood Diamond) as Korath the Pursuer, Benicio del Toro (Savages, The Usual Suspects) as The Collector, collecting weapons of destruction both old and new from across the Universe. Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook, The Place Beyond The Pines) will voice the lovable Rocket Racoon, while Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction, Mars Attacks) plays Nova Prime, head of the intergalactic police force and John C. Reilly (Step Brothers, Wreck It Ralph) as Rhomann Dey who works for Nova Prime as leader of Nova Corps.

Guardians of the Galaxy

James Gunn (Slither, Super) directs from his own script, and from clips shown at this years San Diego Comic-Con it appears that he is embracing the film’s comic side. Kevin Ferge is producing with Marvel Studios.
