With some of the characters from Marvel comics finally getting their chances to be in the MCU, people are curious to see which characters that have been associated with Marvel in the past will join the Avengers in the Cinematic Universe in the future.
The one that Marvel recently got the rights back to from 20th Century Fox is the Silver Surfer. The character made his debut in Fantastic Four #48 and has been a well known antagonist in the Marvel comics. The character also appeared in the sequel to the 2005 Fantastic Four movie with the title, Rise of the Silver, with less than favorable reception from fans and critics alike.
In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz regarding his new upcoming film, Vice, Adam McKay expressed that he would be very interested in directing his own version of the title character. The director exclaimed that the film could be visually impressive in the same way the Wachowskis did with Speed Racer and would also be a treat to direct due to the character having such an emotional story to him.
The director even joked about calling Kevin Feige regarding the idea as well. However, it could be likely that McKay can be attached to the project regardless, not just due to his critically well received directorial work with The Big Short, but also he has been a part of Marvel films in the past with him writing the screenplay for Ant-Man, so it could be likely that McKay could direct the Silver Surfer onto the big screen at sometime in the future.
