Eddie and Venom are preparing to take the stage for their last dance. As the release date begins to draw closer for Venom: The Last Dance, early estimates for how its opening weekend is going to proceed are beginning to take shape.
So far, early tracking is putting the film on course for making $65 million stateside on its first weekend. When accounting for overseas, it’s looking to end up somewhere in the ballpark of $100 million.
The Last Dance serves as the third and final installment in Sony’s Venom trilogy. Bringing back Tom Hardy in the leading role, Eddie Brock and Venom, after having many adventures together, find themselves on their own. Only able to trust each other, the two are faced with a decision that could mean the end of both of them.
While both the first film and its sequel, Let There Be Carnage, have received middling critical reception, both have managed to be big hits at the box office.
As Hollywood Reporter noted, Venom had a debut weekend of just over $80 million, while Let There Be Carnage surpassed that with $90 million in its first weekend. The first film ended its run at just over $850 million worldwide, while Let There Be Carnage was capped off at $506 million.
Venom: The Last Dance hits theaters this Friday.
