Writer-director Kelly Reichardt‘s latest project has been picked up for distribution by Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions. Reichardt adapted the script, centered in a small town in Montana, from a series of short stories by author Malie Meloy.
Kristen Stewart, fresh off her Caesar win for The Clouds of Sils Maria takes another step toward branching out from her Twilight days. She’s joined by Oscar nominees Laura Dern and Michelle Williams. Rosanna Arquette, James LeGros, Jared Harris and Rene Auberjonois round out the cast.
Reichardt‘s 2008 Wendy and Lucy was a darling on the festival circuit, garnering noms and awards for both the film and for Williams as lead. Her most recent film was 2013’s Night Moves starring Jesse Eisenberg (Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice) and Dakota Fanning (Effie Gray).
The film is currently in post-production, with no release date announced.
