Sirius, an action-thriller directed by Oscar-winner Lee Smith, just scored Finn Cole, who is best known for his role as Michael Gray in The Peaky Blinders. Cole will co-star with Mads Mikkelsen in a story based on Denmark’s Sirius Patrol, who guard Greenland’s coastline using dog sleds and a system of pairs. The cast also includes Simon Sears (Secrets we Keep), Jason Wong (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), and Samuel Edward Cook, a fellow ex-Peaky Blinders actor.
The film is Smith’s directorial debut, following notable success as an editor. His experience working on Dunkirk, which centers around a military evacuation by sea, is perfect for coverage of the elite Danish naval unit in Sirius.
Neon, which recently found success at Cannes with Anora, will sell Sirius internationally at the film festival, and will release the movie in the U.S. through its label Decal.
Pascal Degove and Matt Williams will produce for Future Artists Entertainment, with Deborah Acoca as executive producer.
In an interview with Variety, Degove said:
I am overjoyed that one of Britain’s most exciting young actors, Finn Cole, has joined Mads Mikkelsen to help bring this fantastic arctic adventure to life. Their incredible on-screen chemistry coupled with the amalgamation of both the practical and virtual filmmaking tools which ‘Sirius’ has blended really puts this film into a genre of its own. They lead a strong ensemble of international talent who each bring real weight and authenticity to the story.
