Michael K. Williams, known for his iconic roll as Omar in HBO’s The Wire, is reportedly going through the final motions of being added to the steadily growing cast of Disney’s upcoming Han Solo film. Most information about the film is currently being kept under lock and key, so as of now we don’t know who Williams is meant to play. However, we do know is that he’s supposed to be cast in a key role.
Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Woody Harrelson and Emilia Clarke are also set to co-star alongside Alden Ehrenreich as a young Han. Glover will fill the role of Han’s longtime friend/enemy Lando Calrissian.
Lawrence Kasdan, who penned episodes V, VI, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will write the screenplay with his son Jon Kasdan (In the Land of Women). Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller, The directing team of The Lego Movie and the 21 Jumpstreet reboot, will be directing the film. This seems like an odd choice considering how light all their previous work has been up to this point, but perhaps that’s a clue as to the direction the film will be taking
The Untitled Han Solo film is expected to be released May 25th 2018.
