University of Texas Welcomes Newest Faculty Member: Matthew McConaughey

It’s official: Matthew McConaughey is a now professor of his alma mater University of Texas at the Moody College of Communication. The Oscar-winner has always been brought in as a guest instructor for the university, so it was only a matter of time before he made the transition.

“We are proud to welcome Professor McConaughey to officially join our world-class faculty,” Moody College Dean Jay Bernhardt said. “Matthew cares deeply for our school and our students, and we are thrilled that he shares his time and talent to help prepare the next generation of media leaders and innovators.” McConaughey has been instructing as a visitor for Texas the past five years and his work was recognized by the establishment, where he will continue teaching in the school’s Radio-Film-Televison department.

Graduating in 93′ from University of Texas and with 50 films under his belt, McConaughey is continuing his “Script to Screen” production course this fall with a curriculum he made himself. The course will focus on the upcoming film The Gentleman and 2013’s Mud. Deemed “the Minister of Culture” for his recurring appearances at the schools athletic games, McConaughey’s involvement with the school has not diminished much since his graduation. The acclaimed actor isn’t shy either when it comes to showing appreciation for his school and many students are sure to be looking forward to meeting the new teacher on campus for the coming fall semester.

Rudy Ortega: Rudy Ortega is a News Writer/Researcher for Mxdwn. Currently, Rudy Ortega is also a Journalist/Reporter for the Inland Empire Community Newspaper in which he writes about; education, sports and politics for the IE. In his free time, Rudy also has his podcast called "Migi & the Cheese" where he and his co-host discuss various topics from film to personal stories and whats happening in current events. From San Bernardino, not much was offered in comparison to neighboring cities except for cinema. A love for film and a growing passion for the stories they tell, Rudy Ortega couldn't help but gravitate towards the theatre arts. Being a fan first, Rudy Ortega looks for the true message that the picture is conveying. As opinions come in abundance, its always been important to find the true interpretation of the film and what the movie is truly expressing as a whole.
