Jordan Peele, who garnered significant praise for his previous three horror movies, has experienced another setback on his latest project. Peele is best known for Get Out, which won an Oscar for Best Screenplay. His latest film had already been pushed back from its original December 2024 release date due to the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. With Universal Pictures now retracting the film from its October 2026 release date, it is unclear when it will be rescheduled for release, if at all.
In typical Peele fashion, any details about the horror-thriller have been kept under wraps. Peele gave us his best (nevertheless vague) insight into the project on Conan O’Brien’s podcast in 2024:
I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I’m psyched that I have another film that, you know, could be my favorite movie if I make it right.
Fans hope the movie can get back on its feet soon, especially because the 2026 release date had already meant a four year wait since Nope, Peele’s last film. A sequence of setbacks have distanced Peele from the aspirations he expressed in a 2022 interview with The Associated Press:
I feel like I’m off to the races. I just don’t know if I could limit how many films I have that are me. I’m starting to lose sight of what I would be doing if I wasn’t doing movies like this.
At least Him, which Peele produced, is still set for release this month. Directed by Justin Tipping, the movie explores the horrific blueprint for success that an older quarterback reveals to a promising young player.
