On June 3, Betty Anne Rees sadly passed away at her home in Hemet, California. She was 81, born on Apr. 14, 1943, in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Kathleen Loucks, her niece, told The Hollywood Reporter that Rees died after many falls, a possible stroke, and multiple cases of sclerosis in the early 1990s.
Rees is best known for her roles in 1970s film and television. The most notable are Unholy Rollers and Sugar Hill, where she starred in supporting roles.
Unholy Rollers follows Karen, a cannery employee who quits her job to become a skater. Early on, she received resentment from the other skaters when working her up in popularity. One of those jealous skaters is Mickey, portrayed by Rees. Vernon Zimmerman directed the film with the support of Martin Scorsese for the editing.
Sugar Hill has the title character, played by Marki Bey, who uses magic to get revenge on the Southern mob who murdered her boyfriend. Rees played Celeste, the mob boss’s girlfriend.
Among these movies and several other films and television shows, Rees also had parts in My Three Sons, The Incredible Hulk, Barnaby Jones, and Barnaby Jones.
