Tubi And PVR Cinemas Among Many Other Social Media Accounts Post KitKat Heist Memes

On March 29, tons of KitKat Bars were stolen while en route in Europe.  According to Nestle, the company that produces KitKat bars, the shipments were stolen from truck that had left central Italy and was on its way to Poland. The theft led to the official KitKat X account posting a statement, which reads:

“We can confirm that 12T of KitKat products were stolen while in transit between our factory in Central Italy and their destination in Poland. We are working closely with local authorities and supply chain partners to investigate. The good news: there are no concerns for consumer safety, and supply is not affected. Thank you.”

The statement prompted other companies to respond with their own meme posts parodying KitKat’s post. Many movie-centered companies were among those that made parody posts (Many gaming companies also made posts, which can all be viewed here). These movie companies include the theater chain PVR Cinemas, which posted fake response on its official Instagram account parodying KitKat’s. In addition, the streaming service Tubi posted a meme on its official Instagram account consisting of a poster for a fake movie titled The KitKat Job: Based on a True Story. The official Kitkat Instagram account was also attached to Tubi’s, showing that the KitKat social media accounts are at least in on the joke.
