Iconic director Sam Raimi’s newest film is releasing just around the corner. Dubbed Send Help, the movie just received its first trailer, showing fans just what to expect from it.
Send Help follows two coworkers, played by Dylan O’Brien and Rachel McAdams, constantly at odds with one another. But after being stranded on an island after a plane crash, the two must put their differences aside as they face the choice of surviving together or dying alone. O’Brien and McAdams are joined by a cast of Edyll Ismail, Xavier Samuel, and Chris Pang. In line with Raimi’s trademarks, Bruce Campbell will make an appearance as well.
The script for Send Help is written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. The duo have worked in horror before with the Friday The 13th remake, and have even written the script for the iconic showdown between slasher legends. Freddy Vs. Jason.
For horror fans, this will sound like a match made in heaven, as Freddy Vs. Jason is very much in line with not only Send Help but also a wide variety of Raimi’s other films. Send Help is listed as being a thriller/comedy, while Freddy Vs. Jason leaned on those elements heavily. Going even further, Raimi’s iconic Evil Dead series is one of the most popular and iconic examples of a horror film mixing itself with comedic humor.
The trailer doesn’t hold back from showing Raimi’s usual horror style, either, especially when it comes to the idea of being stranded on an island. However, the horror is blended with his usual sarcastic humor, even with some over-the-top, unrealistic blood splatters.
Send Help hits theaters January 30th. Check out the trailer below.
