A trailer for Netflix’s new film Hit Man has hit the scenes. The film will debut on Netflix on June 7th.
An official synopsis states, “Inspired by an unbelievable true story, a strait-laced professor discovers his hidden talent as a fake hitman. He meets his match in a client who steals his heart and ignites a powder keg of deception, delight, and mixed-up identities.”
Hit Man is directed by Richard Linklater and stars Glen Powell in the leading role. Both Powell and Linklater wrote the film. Glen Powell was recently seen on the big screen with Anyone But You, starring alongside Sydney Sweeney. As Hollywood Reporter points out, Powell’s biggest claim to fame was a supporting role in 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick, as Lieutenant “Hangman” Seresin.
Ahead of its wide release, the film was already able to pull in a fair bit of acclaim. It had a slot at the Venice Film Festival in September of 2023 and currently holds a 96% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.8/10 on IMDb. As the synopsis stated, the film is based on events documented in a 2001 article in Texas Monthly.
As well as Powell, Hit Man will feature Austin Amelio, Adria Arjona, Retta, Sanjay Rao, Evan Holtzman, and Molly Bernard.
The film will release a limited run in theaters starting on June 7th. Check out the trailer below.
