Trailer Released for Disney+ Exclusive ‘Toy Story’ Short ‘Lamp Life’

Even though Toy Story 4 was set to be the finale Toy Story film, Pixar still has a few more ideas for Woody and friends. As with every Toy Story entry, numerous shorts and specials have premiered throughout the series’ lifespan and this continues with the forth film. The Disney+ series Forky Asks A Question has been quite popular as spin-off material, but now Pixar has added to that with an upcoming Bo Peep short and Disney+ exclusive known as Lamp Life. Disney just released the first trailer for the short film today.

Lamp Life takes place before Toy Story 4 and is a recollection of what happened to Bo Peep after she left Andy and his toys behind. As Bo Peep tells Woody and the other carnival toys, “Life on a baby lamp isn’t that exciting.” From here, we get a montage of a few crazy scenarios she experienced throughout the year, including catching fire, getting attacked by random animals and being in various set pieces like a club and eventually the antique store seen in Toy Story 4. Bo then jokes that her life on a baby’s shelf might actually have been “too exciting”.

Like most the best of Pixar shorts, Lamp Life looks to be a rather enjoyable story featuring some fan favorite Toy Story characters. Considering that Bo Peep was one of the most praised elements of Toy Story 4, fans will most likely appreciate the inclusion of more backstory following her tenure as Andy’s toy.

Lamp Life is set for release on Disney Plus on January 31st, 2020. Watch the full trailer below.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
