Well Go USA Entertainment has released the first official trailer for Cut Throat City, a heist thriller drama that takes place in post-Katrina New Orleans. The film will be directed by RZA, a famed hip-hop MC and producer best known for his work with Wu-Tang Clan who made his directorial debut in 2011 with The Man with the Iron Fists, which saw directors Quentin Tarantino and Eli Roth involved in production, writing and casting.
The film’s ensemble cast includes Ethan Hawke, T.I., Wesley Snipes, Terrence Howard, Eiza González, Kat Graham, Shameik Moore, Demetrius Shipp Jr., Denzel Whitaker, Keean Johnson, and Isaiah Washington, with P.G. Cushieri writing the screenplay. Its story follows four boyhood friends in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward who return to find their homes decimated from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. With no jobs and no help from FEMA, they reluctantly turn to a local gangster, who offers them the ultimate chance to turn their situations around: pull off a dangerous heist in the heart of the city. When the mission goes wrong, however, the friends find themselves on the run, hunted by two relentless detectives and a neighborhood warlord who thinks they stole the heist money.
Cut Throat City is expected to premiere at SXSW in Austin next month, and will hit theaters on April 10, 2020. Watch the trailer below:
