Among the many TV spots and trailers during the Super Bowl, a new look was shown off at the upcoming Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes. The new installment is directed by Wes Ball.
As Screen Rant observes, it’s been seven years since the last film, War For The Planet Of The Apes, hit theater screens. With nine theatrical endeavors to date, Kingdom marks the tenth film in the beloved franchise.
300 years after Caesar found a home for the apes, a young chimp, Noa, still finding his way in the world, goes out of his way to protect a human girl being hunted down by the tyrannical leader, Proximus Caesar. The girl that Proximus Caesar seeks out is deemed to be abnormally intelligent for a human. Proximus Caesar tells Noa about the achievements humanity once made.
The new trailer shows that humans are no longer the dominant species, and apes have taken their place. Many man made machines and structures now lie in ruin, slowly being reclaimed by nature, as the apes build a civilization of their own.
Owen Teague headlines the film as Noa, alongside Freya Allan as Mae, and Kevin Durand as Proximus Caesar. Also included in the cast is Peter Macon as Raka, shown to give advice to Noa throughout both the new trailer and the first trailer, released back in November.
Taking over from War For The Planet Of The Apes director Matt Reeves, Wes Ball is most commonly known for his work on The Maze Runner, and its subsequent sequels, The Scorch Trials and The Death Cure.
Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes hits theaters on May 10th. Check out the trailer below.
