In Journey’s End’s previous incarnation as a play, it debuted on Broadway in 1929 and, according to Playbill Magazine, ran for 485 performances. Over the years, it has returned for shorter runs, first in 1939 and, again, in 2007.
The movie chronicles the heartbreaking journey of a group of young British men as the battle the last great push in France during World War I.
The cast includes Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games), Asa Butterfield (Hugo), Paul Bettany (The Avengers: Age of Ultron), Toby Jones (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Tom Sturridge (1984), and Stephen Graham (Snatch). Saul Dibb (The Dutchess) directed the film based on an adaptation by Simon Reade.
Based on the novel and play by R.C. Sherriff and beautifully worded five-star reviews, Journey’s End, will come to theaters in New York and Los Angeles on March 2.
