If the idea of Nicolas Cage playing around in ancient China got you excited, we can only imagine how you feel about John Cusack (Maps to the Stars) and Adrien Brody (The Grand Budapest Hotel) traveling the Silk Road. Seriously, the plot of Dragon Blade involves Cusack and Brody as Romans (with Brody as the emperor Tiberius) and something about unifying the famous trade routes known collectively as the Silk Road, according to the trailer. Also, Jackie Chan (Police Story 2013) is there.
Just like the Nic Cage feature, Outcast, Dragon Blade is a Chinese production – as you could probably tell from the trailer’s subtitles over the English dialogue; which Chan is speaking, oddly enough – aimed at the country’s domestic audience. We can only guess (and joke about) the artistic quality of the film at this point, but it could be a good financial decision for Brody and Cusack, as Chinese theater attendance tends to be pretty high, Daniel Lee (Black Mask, 14 Blades, Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon) has made some fairly popular action films in the past, and Jackie Chan is still a hot commodity in his homeland. Dragon Blade is set for a February 19, 2015 release.
