Action Point, starring Johnny Knoxville, sounds like it could potentially be a number of different movies. My first instinct was to check and see if it was another low-budget action-buddy comedy starring Jackie Chan. It is not. My next thought was that it would make for an awesome comeback vehicle for Chuck Norris. Sadly, it is not. Having failed miserably at my first two guesses, my final gut reaction was that it had to be a surfer movie, possibly starring Keanu Reeves. And yet, it is none of these things.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Knoxville actually found a clever way to turn his trademark brand of insane stunts, gags, and gross-out humor into a real movie. Action Point brings the real stunts (and real pain) that Knoxville and his Jackass cohorts are known for into 2018 with a bang.
In Action Point, Knoxville stars as DC, the likable, kooky owner of an amusement park where the safety of the patrons is the least of everyones’ concerns. Rides are out of control and dangerous, yet when a rival amusement park starts poaching his customers, DC decides to up the ante by cranking up the excitement (and danger) in his own park. In order to save his theme park, and his relationship with his daughter, DC and his crew are willing to push themselves, and their guests, to the limit.
