Jason Statham’s new movie coming next year looks to be a thrill ride from start to finish. He plays a security consultant and ex-gambler who is simply looking for a way out of Vegas for good, when he lands himself on the wrong side of the mob for helping a girl get her revenge. The trailer shows Statham playing to his own strengths of action scenes and a very noir tone, but with an underlying comedic tone can’t be ignored.
Alongside Jason Statham (The Transporter), the movie stars Michael Angarano (Ceremony), Milo Ventimiglia (Rocky Balboa), Dominik Garcia-Lorido (City Island), Sofia Vergara (TV’s Modern Family), Jason Alexander (TV’s Seinfeld), Hope Davis (Real Steel), and Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games). In the trailer, viewers are introduced to Statham’s character Nick Wild, a security consultant with a flair for the dramatic, when he helps a client win Vergara’s character back. When Garcia-Lorido’s character Holly appears, beaten and victimized, Nick assists her in her quest for revenge, using his fighting skills to capture Ventimiglia’s character, named Danny DeMarco. Little does Nick know that DeMarco is the son of a major mob boss, and he soon finds himself fighting for the chance to win his way out of Vegas by returning to gambling.
Simon West (The Expendables 2) directed this adaptation of the novel Heat by William Goldman, who also wrote the screenplay. The movie was produced by Lionsgate and is set for release on January 30, 2015, in theaters and On Demand.
