Shooting will begin January 8th in Dublin for Irish writer-director Gerard Barrett’s second feature, Glassland. Academy Award nominated actress Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense, Muriel’s Wedding) and Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction, What Richard Did) headline the cast.
Gerard Barrett won critical acclaim and the Rising Star Award from the Irish Film and Television Board for his 2012 debut film Pilgrim Hill. Glassland will be financed by the Irish Film Board and Element Pictures. In the film, Jack Reynor’s character plays a taxi driver who gets involved with human trafficking while trying to save his mother (Toni Collette) from addiction. Will Poulter (We’re The Miller’s) and Michael Smiley (The World’s End) also star.
Producers are Ed Guiney (Frank, What Richard Did, The Guard) and Juliette Borass (Get Up & Go), with Element Pictures Andrew Lowe executive producing with Nine Entertainment.
After the completion of filming Glassland, Toni Collette will head to Broadway and join Actors Micihael C. Hall and Marisa Tomeii for Will Eno’s dark comedy The Realistic Joneses, opening in late March.
