Spider-Man star Tom Holland is trading his red suit for dancing shoes. The 25-year-old officially confirmed on Sunday that he’ll portray the legendary dancer, actor, and singer Fred Astaire in an upcoming Sony biopic.
According to a profile for GQ, producer Amy Pascal hinted that she wanted Holland for Astaire’s part in the upcoming film, as well as the additional trilogy of Spider-Man.
During an interview with AP, Holland confirmed that he’ll embark on the project, which is still in its early stages of production.
“The script came in a week ago,” Holland told reporters. “I haven’t read it yet; they haven’t given it to me.”
Pascal has allegedly received the script, Holland revealed.
“She FaceTimed me earlier. I was in the bath,” he said with a laugh. “And we had a lovely FaceTime, but I will be playing Fred Astaire.”
In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait until more details about the film are announced. Until then, Holland is focused on his latest outing, Spider-Man: No Way Home, his seventh appearance as the film’s superhero Peter Parker.
Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters on Dec. 17.
