The eagerly awaited two-part sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is hitting theaters this summer and is keyed up to showcase an entirely new line-up of Spider-People from across the Marvel Multiverse.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part 1) will see the return of Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker, and Haile Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, as well as new additions to the cast Oscar Isaac as Spider-Man 2099, Issa Rae as Spider-Woman, Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk, and Jason Schwartzman as The Spot. Based on the trailer, fans have speculated even more surprises, including a possible cameo by live-action Spider-Man, Tom Holland.
On The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider teased that Holland may lend his voice to the animated sequel, saying, “I heard that part of the delay – because Across the Spider-Verse was delayed – was about getting Tom Holland in that movie, and that one of the dimensions that Miles could end up going to … is a live-action dimension with Tom Holland.”
The Spider-Man actor said he’d love to swing into action with Miles Morales. Holland and co-star Zendaya have both commented on the possibility, with Holland stating, “Love [the Spider-Verse movies], and I’m just waiting for the phone call. Guys, call us. Put us in your movie, we want to be in it.”
Holland continued, “[Producer] Amy [Pascal] actually asked me on the set of [Spider-Man: No Way Home], and no one has come back to me.
Whether Holland will don the Spider-suit for another live-action movie hasn’t been confirmed. Still, Sony executive Tom Rothman has spoken up about wanting the actor to return for a fourth film along with Zendaya and director Jon Watts.
