According to Jay Washington of Collider Live on YouTube, Tom Holland shot a scene as his character Peter Parker for the Tom Hardy-led Sony film Venom. However Disney and Marvel, who hold creative control over the Marvel Cinematic Universe, had Sony cut it out, presumably to prevent Venom from being associated with an MCU character like Spider-Man.
This confirmation that the scene exists comes after long speculations about rumors that Holland had turned up to shoot a scene for Venom. Rumors died down when Venom came out in 2018 and the supposed scene was not shown in the film. Washington said he found out that Holland shot a scene and added that “Marvel saw the movie and then was like, ‘Take him out. Take the scene out.'” He then clarified that Holland was in the movie as Peter Parker, not Spider-Man.
With the second Venom film coming out October 2nd, 2020, and the fact that Sony and Marvel/Disney still haven’t come to a financial agreement concerning Spider-Man’s fate in the MCU, it seems as though we may get a chance to see such a scene appear either in the upcoming Venom sequel or in a re-release of the first film. Only time will tell if we will finally get to see Holland’s Spider-Man together with Hardy’s Venom.
