Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, & Tobey Maguire Reflect on ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

For the first time since the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the three Spider-Men, Holland, Garfield, and Maguire, reunited for an interview with Pete Hammond from Deadline about their experiences filming and what the film meant to them.

Spider-Man: No Way Home has just become the #6 highest-grossing film of all time after a spectacular theatrical run and is nothing short of a cultural phenomenon. Nearly twenty years of Spider-Man storytelling came together in this film to deliver a nostalgic and satisfying story for Maguire, Garfield, and Holland’s Spider-Man variants. The studio and fans alike are eagerly awaiting Oscar nominations to see if the comic-book film can defy the odds and snag a nomination for Best Picture.

“I mean, I always knew that this film would be loved around the world. I didn’t think it would be quite as massive as it has been. One of my favorite things to do at the minute is to go online and watch fans’ reactions to you guys coming in that one scene in particular. I don’t think I could ever have imagined it as being so well received by everyone,” Holland told Maguire and Garfield as he reflected on the film’s success.

Maguire revealed some of the early happenings in terms of his return, specifically how he came to talk to Marvel execs Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige about the possibility. He said “In that conversation, the intention, the kind of love and celebration of these movies and what it meant. And to me, when artists or, you know, people who are steering the creative process have a kind of authentic, genuine intent of celebration and love, it just was so apparent in both of them, that, I don’t know, I just wanted to join that. And I’m a big fan of Tom and those movies and Andrew.”

Similarly, Garfield offered his perspective on his early decision about joining the project by saying he “was just waiting to see if Tobey was going to do it, and if Tobey was going to do it, then I was like, ‘Well, I have no choice,’ you know?”

The three actors showed nothing but gratitude for the opportunity and the film’s massive success and fan appreciation. The full interview can be viewed here for more insights from the three Spider-Men.
