Comicbook.com proves that celebrities are just like us. The entertainment news outlet had an interview with Spider-Man: Now Way Home star Tom Holland and they had some questions about the future of “Peter 3”, Andrew Garfield, the first reboot of the character since Tobey Maguire.
It looks like Tom Holland is posted on the front lines in the army of fans demanding another stand-alone film for the character.
“I would love to see The Amazing Spider-Man 3,” Holland told ComicBook.com in an exclusive interview at a press event for Uncharted. “I think what was so wonderful was how Andrew was able to kind of make amends with the character and the studio, you know, to kind of win the general public back.”
Garfield gave audiences a tragicomic and almost meta performance of the character: feeling lost, lonely, and not as “amazing” as the other Peters. This is expected as his arc was never finished. The audience last saw Peter losing the love of his life and reluctantly donning the suit to face Paul Giamatti’s Rhino.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opened in 2014 to a low box office and poor critical reception. Andrew Garfield’s last appearance as the web-slinger until he stumbled through Ned Leeds’ Sling Ring in Spider-Man: No Way Home seven years later.
The Amazing Spider-Man 3 has been trending since No Way Home‘s release in December, fans begging for closure and a fitting ending to Garfield’s solo arc.
Holland ended his statement by saying, “So, should Sony decide to do that? They would have my full support, and obviously, so would Andrew.”
Garfield has not yet commented on the situation but has expressed a desire to work with Holland and Maguire again in future Marvel projects.
