One of A24’s newest features, which features Timothée Chalamet in the leading role, is staying a steady course for a 2025 release. However, this brand new film, Marty Supreme, will also come with the highest budget an A24 film has seen to date.
The actual story of the film itself is being kept under wraps for the time being, but all that has been given states that it’ll be loosely based on Marty Reisman. Reisman was a professional table tennis player who has several medals and accolades to his name for his achievements in the sport, as well as dabbling as an author for his own autobiography.
Early reports of the budget have fluctuated to a degree as the movie is picking up steam, but Deadline notes that the closest amount is in the area of $70 million.
Deadline also reported that, budget wise, this puts Marty Supreme on par with The Smashing Machine, another project from A24, with both now holding the highest price tag of any of their films.
2024 has already been a big year for Chalamet, and is still continuing to do so. March of this year saw Dune: Part Two hit theater screens, which allowed Chalamet to continue the story of Paul Atreides. The success of the film also caused a third part to get the official green light, which Chalamet will also headline. On top of that, later this year Chalamet will be back on the big screen for the holiday season with A Complete Unknown, a biopic about Bob Dylan, who Chalamet will play.
