Girls Trip star and comedian Tiffany Haddish is set to star opposite Wedding Crashers star Isla Fisher in Double Crossed, an action-comedy being shopped to buyers at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Haddish and Fisher play Niki and Lara, two women with polar-opposite personalities who learn, at their husband’s funeral, that they were married to the same man. As his life secrets come out, the unlikely pair go on a road trip to reveal the dangerous truth about the man they thought they knew.
Kestrin Pantrea is set to direct, with a script penned by Shelby Enlow. Zero Gravity will produce the film with Jeffery Greenstein’s A Higher Standard, with A Higher Standard also handling worldwide sales at TIFF. Principal photography is scheduled to start in the first quarter next year.
Zero Gravity’s Mark Williams and Allie Loh, with Orien Richman, will produce alongside Greenstein. Thayer Juergens will executive produce, and Rebecca Raichek will oversee development on behalf of A Higher Standard.
“I couldn’t be more excited about this film, this incredible team, and my first collaboration with Zero Gravity on what promises to be a fun-filled ride,” said Greenstein. “The combination of humor and explosions, what could be better,” added Williams. “The script is very funny, our actors are very funny, now all we need is lighter fluid.”
Haddish’s last appearance on the big screen was in Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and she also has multiple projects on the way, including Matt Sukkar’s action thriller The Deputy alongside William H. Macy, and Lil Rel Howery’s film, Haunted Heist.
Fisher’s last appearance was in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, and in Netflix’s George Clooney-starrer Jay Kelly, which celebrated its world premiere at the Venice film festival last week before heading to Telluride.
Future projects from A Higher Standard include Playdate, the action comedy with Alan Ritchson and Kevin James, plus a Kevin James-led romantic comedy, Solo Mio.
Haddish is repped by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole. Fisher is repped by UTA, and Sloane, Offer, Webber & Dern. Pantera is repped by CAA, Zero Gravity Management and Bloch Law.
